Privacy Policy

Draft · last updated 25 September 2026

This policy is a draft and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.

The short version

  • PrayUp works fully without an account, logging prayers included, and your data stays on your phone.
  • If you choose to sign in, your prayer log and related data are backed up to your account so they can follow you to a new phone.
  • No ads, no tracking, and we never sell or share your data.

What stays on your phone

Your prayer log, intentions and notes, favorite duas, dhikr sessions and settings (including your location, calculation method and language) are stored in the app on your device. Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your phone.

Location

With your permission, PrayUp reads your location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. Your coordinates are saved on your phone and are not sent to our servers.

To show your city's name, and when you search for a city, PrayUp uses your phone's built-in geocoding service, provided by Apple or Google.

If you create an account

You can sign in with Apple, Google or your email address. Accounts and backups are run on Supabase, our database and sign-in provider. With an account we store:

  • your email address, your name if your sign-in provider shares it, and how you signed in;
  • your prayer log: the day, the prayer, whether it was prayed or excused, when you logged it, and the optional details you add (congregation, mosque, sunnah rak'ahs);
  • your dhikr sessions;
  • your intentions and good deeds, including any deeds you type yourself and your daily notes;
  • your favorite duas.

What we use it for

Only to back up your data and restore it on your other devices. We don't analyse it, profile you, or use it for advertising.

Content the app downloads

The dua catalog, the 99 Names, the Hadith collections and the deed suggestions are downloaded from our servers. These downloads don't include your personal data.

Notifications

Prayer reminders are scheduled on your phone. We don't run a server that sends them.

What we don't do

  • No advertising and no ad networks.
  • No analytics or tracking tools.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of your data.

Keeping and deleting your data

Data on your phone is removed when you uninstall PrayUp. On Android, your phone's own Google backup may keep a copy of app data and restore it if you reinstall.

Your account and its backups are kept until you delete them: Settings → Your data → Delete All Data in the app removes both at once. See Delete account for other ways.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its date.
